Ayuzera brings to you an authentic and unique variety of black rice grown in the soil of Manipur within the northeastern region of India, where it is known as Chak Hao. This ‘forbidden rice’ gets it's signature black-purple colour from a pigment called Anthocyanin, which is known to have antioxidant and anticarcinogenic properties.
The secret of the intriguing nomenclature, forbidden rice, goes back to Ancient China, where a black variant of rice was consumed by Chinese kinsmen for betterment of kidneys, stomach and liver, until a handful of noble Chinese men took possession of every grain and withheld it from public consumption. Black rice then became a property for the royalty and the wealthy only in Ancient China.
Black rice has the uncommon triple blessing of being visually pleasing, tasty, and healthy. The anthocyanin pigments give it a unique nuttiness with a hint of sweetness and a rich, complex flavour.
Additionally, these pigments are well-known for lowering inflammation and cardiovascular diseases. You can benefit from eating black rice in terms of heart health and general wellness.
